INTRODUCING!

Philip A. Muhammad, a brilliant writer, lecturer, and researcher has taken time to bring together a book entitled The HipHop Nation- Willies Lynch’s Newest Slave. This book is intended to share a particular light on the HipHop Nation and its social, political, and economic ties to the global ambitions of corporate America. Each and every citizen of “The HipHop Nation” should not only read his book, but also hear this self-proclaimed HipHop citizen dig into the heart of a culture that has lost its shame and has sold its soul to the devilish ambitions of those who profit from the huge sells of a music that glorifies behaviors that are currently destroying the moral fabrics of the community from which it originally came.

The HipHop culture has grown into a 10 billion dollar a year cash cow. Unfortunately, along with its growth came a monumental diversion from its original artistic standards and fundamental rules. Lost is the loyalty to the art form, and the desire to be true to ones roots and artistic expression. Found is the insatiable appetite for money, drugs, sex, and debilitating lifestyles.

Being a culture that had once prided itself on the phrase “Keep It Real”, the culture has adopted behaviors and lifestyles that are far from its most famous selling point. The new and improved marketing strategies of elements that reside outside the culture have created a “new monster”. A monster that is comprised of an overdose of lyrical pornography, lyrical drug sales, thousands of digital murders and crimes, and topped with the senseless disrespect of women and the community from which the artist themselves were born.

A native of Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Williams (Muhammad) recieved his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in Islamic Studies in 2008. He has taught at the University of Michigan and the University of Toledo, and has presented or lectured at the University of Mainz, Germany, the University of Chicago, Duke University, Emory University, Morehouse College, Spelman College and Clark Atlanta University. Dr. Williams has several publications and his dissertation, entitled "Tajalli wa-Ru'ya: A Study of Anthropomorphic Theophany and Visio Dei in the Hebrew Bible, the Qur'an and Early Sunni Islam," argued that the Islamic sources (Qur'an, Hadith, Sunni textual tradition for the 9th-12th centuries) give evidence of a tradition of transcendent anthropomorphism and visual theophany not unlike that found more clearly articulated in the Hebrew Bible.

Uno The Prophet comes from a legacy three generations deep in Boston Mass. Born and raised in an artistic family in the section known as Roxbury, his material often references the deep history that is in our all-too-often overlooked Black communities in Boston (Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan). He was exposed at an early age to all forms of music and live talent, as his grandmother was a renowned tap dancer in the US and Canada, often breaking bread with the likes of Lena Horne, Diahann Carroll, Jimmy Slyde and a young Gregory and Maurice Hines.
“From the First of the Blacks to the First of the Whites - Reflections on the Haitian Revolution and Present Condition"

By Immortal Technique

Since the recent tragedy that has befallen the proud and persevering nation of Haiti, there has been an outpouring of support followed by a few disturbing falsities being spread about the history of the island and its people. I wrote the following to shed some light on events during and around the Haitian Revolution. Please remember memorizing and reiterating should never pass for learning. Deciphering the significance of individuals and events is what truly teaches us not just about history, but also about ourselves.

"If what you watch doesn't educate you or reinforce anything positive then change the channel. If you can't tune in to a channel that does then turn off the tv. Your mind is like your body. It needs information to live just like the body needs food. This is what is called food for thought. Some foods are good for you and will keep you healthy and strong. Other foods are hazardous to you and will decrease your quality of life and will shorten your life span. Be careful what you put in your body and even more careful what you put in your mind."

The wisdom equality of the 'zig' in zig zag zig is the past. The present history of the zag is the 'now' and the future is 'no not nowaday' which manifest the second zig. Knowledge understanding represents composite 'zigs' meaning the past and future are directly related via the 'Now'.Two zigs show and prove that the master embodies the knowledge of the past and the understanding of the future. Zag born wisdom which shows and proves a wise way. The 'way' is wise because you preserve the best part which is an aspect of the second 'zig' or understanding.

HH4H What does it all mean? What's Next!?? Show and Prove.

As HH4H (the national event) winds down, I am left with a few thoughts as my perspective gets wider. Initially I felt like all we had to do was get through the event, make it to Sunday (the event was Saturday Jan 30th if you didn’t know), I was wrong. The event provided new realizations about not only HipHop4Haiti and specifically HH4HNYC but also what our generation our sub-culture needs.
A consistent question kept arising throughout the course of the night, “What’s Next!?!?” this sentiment was shared by so many that night that were “Fired Up and Ready to go!!”. What’s next? As the night approached, began, and ended the realization that the event was actually less about Haiti and more about “What’s Next!?!” became apparent.
